Parkour

Ok, I was reading a review of the script of the upcoming Punisher: War Zone on IESB.net and I saw that it made mention of “free runners.” I didn’t know what this was, so I looked it up on Wikipedia, and this lead me to reading about the French art of parkour, by which I quickly came to be fascinated. This is way cool stuff. You may have seen this kind of movement in films such as District B-13, Wanted or Casino Royale. Check out the videos below.

My first experience watching PK was Casino Royale’s opening scene. Of course I would say this is the American adaptation of PK — would the movie Jumper be included in this genre? But in any case, I think the capture of bodily movement to get from point A to point B with the least amount of movements at the highest speed is “instinctive” almost resembling animal movements — what facinates me is the way the camera (or various cameras, I am sure there are many) can capture the movement.
